About JKNE
JKNE is a new charity based in the North East of England, created primarily to follow Jonny’s wishes by helping other sufferers of Epidermoysis Bullosa and their carers.
jonnykennedynortheast was launched in November 2006 by co-founders Eric Duffield(Trustee) Roger Stutter (Trustee) and Jonny's mum Edna Kennedy(Trustee) and the charity was offically registered in june 2007.
Our first aim was to set up a website which will create a community between the charity,the EB sufferers,their carers and others who support EB.
The charity aims to provide computers to all its members, creating community between everyone. Hence, enabling the charity to help even more.
A major aim is to fund free all inclusive holidays and respite care, as well as funding vital medical equipment not available on the NHS.eg special beds & bedding,bandages and wheelchairs.
One particular sufferer of EB (Simplex) Mrs Gillian Jenkins who's son Ewan also suffers from EB (Simplex) said, "When we first heard about this new Charity in the Northeast we were only to pleased to get involved and to continue raising the awareness of this painful condition and help raise the funds needed to help all other EB sufferers in the Northeast and the UK,so please support jonnykennedynortheast in whatever way you can and help make a difference to all children and adults in the Northeast and UK living a life of pain"
There are many ways you can help in raising funds,and awareness for JKNE by orginising such events as raffles,tombolas, quiz nights,sponsored runs & walks and even crazy ideas such as bungee jumping or absailing.
JKNE holds events and local projects throughout the North East in schools, arenas and malls, to raise funds and welcomes anyone keen to help.
JKNE is primarily a North East charity but it’s aims are far reaching, we encourage all interested parties to get in touch, become members and join in events whenever they occur.
